Cake Pop Fun

Earlier in October, we made cake pops. We made one for each teacher and staff. This meeting, we cleaned a classroom and helped Mrs. Forsberg get her room organized. We also planned all the fun things we will do the year 2012/2013.

We also welcome four new Difference Makers this year!

Wondering What We've Been Up To?

A few weeks ago, we randomly decided to clean a teacher's classroom for her. When we got there, there was a lot of laminating on her table--a project that took three of us an hour to finish (It reminded Mrs. Forsberg about The Shoemaker and the Elves Story). Some of us made flowers out of paper and put them in a real vase. Emily made an awesome sign for the door area that says really nice things about the teacher, Mrs. T. In the morning, when she arrived, she was VERY happy. That was fun, and we hope to do it again one day. This week, we set up two water stations for the kids who are training for the Bellin Run. It was a warm, windy day, and they really appreciated the drinks, as well as the support. It was fun, and we got to meet Kira's dog :) Last week, we got sweatier than usual, doing clean-up yard work in the middle school courtyard. It's really looking better in there, and it's only going to improve. Stay tuned for final pics, but here's some of our efforts.
So, as you can see, we've been BUSY. Our last meeting is next week--We're going to the Tundra Lodge!!

15 Days Left!

We were incredibly busy on Thursday and Friday of last week, getting ready for Relay for Life. On Thursday, we baked brownies for Family Movie Night and made some phone calls to wrap up more fundraising plans. A very cool thing that happened tonight was a lady calling to ask if she could donate a basket to the Relay for Life Silent "Auction" Raffle. Of course, we said YES!

On Friday, we were a little disappointed that we didn't pack the auditorium for Family Movie Night, but everyone who came said they had a lot of fun, and we had fun, too. We are definitely planning to hold this event again. Here's a little slideshow of what we were up to this week:

Gearing Up for Relay for Life!

Wow. We have been so busy getting ready for next week's Family Movie Night, one of our fundraisers to raise money for our Relay Team. On Friday, we're showing 101 Dalmations at the middle school auditorium. We'll be selling concessions, and Baytek Games is loaning us an arcade game to help add to our proceeds from the night. (Thanks, Baytek!) The Difference Makers are really excited and a little nervous; we hope a lot of people come!

We're also having a raffle at school (in April) for all kinds of prizes, including...

    • Figaro’s Pizza lunch for a student and 7 friends (Thank you, Figaro’s!)
    • Wii/Gamer lunch activity for 6 students
    • Choose-your-own lunch color pass (2 per grade)
    • Inside-recess passes for one day (2 per grade)
    • Carrot Tree gift certificate (Thank you, Carrot Tree!)
    • Two Marcus Movie passes! (Thanks, Mrs. Martin!)
    • PCMS Clothing prizes (Thank you. PCMS School Store!)
    • Mary Kay Mothers Day gift baskets (Thanks, Mrs. DeBoth!)
    • and more!

Because Difference Makers always go all out, we're also starting to plan a talent show at the middle school in May. We're going to invite PCMS families (students and teachers) to share their talents in a sure-to-be-entertaining evening!

So far, we've raised about $400 towards our goal of $5000, but as you can see, there's lots of potential if we work hard. Wish us luck!

Relay Fundraising Kick-Off

At our meeting this week, we planned a lot for the next couple of months to raise money for our Relay for Life team:

*Cancer Remembrance/Support Ribbons
*Family Movie Night at PCMS
*Relay Raffle
*PCMS Talent Show

We have so much to do, but we're really excited!

To keep up with how we're doing, check out our PCMS Difference Makers Facebook Page or see our Relay for Life page! So far, we have raised about $250!

Valentines Dance

On Friday, we volunteered at a Valentines Dance for students with special needs. We made decorations, helped set up, worked the snack table, DJ booth, raffle and games booths, etc. but also took time to have some fun on the dance floor. Here's a slideshow of the fun!

Ding-Dong-Decorate-and-Ditch

We had so much fun spreading a little Christmas cheer around Pulaski! This year's Ding-Dong-Decorate-and-Ditch was a great success! This time, we also had a visitor--Julianna, a Pulaski News reporter came along for the ride, and she even help decorate a little, too!

At one house, the owner looked out the window and smiled.  That really made us feel good. At another house, though, we scared a little kid who was home alone. (Sorry about that!)
